2018 was a great year for Food Connects. As we celebrate our 5th birthday, we can appreciate our continued growth and maturity.
• Our Strategic Plan engaged key stakeholders, board, and staff while leaving us inspired and focused for the next 3 years.
• We added 4 new talented people to our team who have transformed our organization in a very short time.
• We added a refrigerated van to our fleet and moved into a new facility with room to continue growing our local food distribution efforts.
• And most recently we’ve received two grants from by the Thompson Trust and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, totaling $24,900, that will support work with the Brattleboro schools in partnership with the Vermont Department of Health on improving student nutrition and food access.
We feel strongly that improving school meals, finding new markets for local farms and food businesses, and collaborating with community partners on larger issues are important pieces of what is needed for our rural communities to thrive. Thanks to increasing support from our community we are able to continue increasing our impact.
